How can I let my doctors know more about ON-Q C-bloc?

Your surgeon, anesthesiologist and you as the patient are involved in deciding whether a nerve block is right for your particular surgery. In some cases, a nerve block may be used instead of general anesthesia during surgery.

ON-Q C-bloc has been used for a variety of surgeries. It is particularly effective for orthopedic procedures where a nerve block may be used. With ON-Q C-bloc the nerve block does not wear off giving you pain relief throughout your recovery.

Examples of these procedures include:

Orthopedic Surgery

  • Foot and Ankle Surgery
    • general foot or ankle surgery
  • ACL
    • ACL surgery is required when the ACL, one of the major ligaments around the knee, is torn; this can happen when a force rotates the lower leg while the knee is bent
  • Knee Replacement
    • injured or damaged parts of the knee joint are replaced with artificial parts; the procedure is performed by separating the muscles and ligaments around the knee to expose the knee capsule (the tough, gristle-like tissue surrounding the knee joint)
  • Rotator Cuff
    • torn rotator cuff repair
  • Subacromial Decompression
    • repairing the rotator cuff tendons, which are inflamed and causing pain when performing certain activities
