How can I let my doctors know more about ON-Q C-bloc?

Using a special procedure, your anesthesiologist places a small tube (catheter) near the nerve that affects the area of your surgery. The ON-Q C-bloc pump is then connected to the catheter. This procedure is usually done right before your surgery.

The local anesthetic medicine numbs only the region affected by your surgery. Because the medicine is given continuously at a safe and slow flow rate, you do not have to worry about the medicine wearing off.

The result? Your pain is relieved and you avoid the nausea, breathing problems, drowsiness, grogginess, constipation or sleepiness - all which are side effects of traditional painkillers like narcotics.

The ON-Q C-bloc is completely portable and may be used while you recover at home. It may be left in place for up to five days. The doctor, nurse or you easily remove the pump and catheter when all the medicine has been delivered.
